RESTHOUSE

YUSHIHOUSE is a rest-house. You cannot find the word "rest-house" in an ordinary dictionary, while rest-home means “a home for old people”. But there is an entry rest-house in the Concise Oxford Dictionary; it is an English word used (only?) in India, meaning a house for travellers to rest in. And in Germany, whenever I see the sign rasthaus on an autobahn, I feel relieved, for I know I am able to take a little rest, use the restroom, and, perhaps, have a snack.

What is the ideal rest-house? A Chinese poem goes like this:

Such is the ideal place to take a rest after a tiring journey: far away from exhausting work, from fatiguing boredom, from perplexing problems, from irritating people.

Travellers need rest; so do surfers of the web. After going through myriad web-pages to trade stocks, to strike an auction deal, to look for the best-valued hotel, to be informed on the side-effects of a drug, … you are tired. Welcome to this website to rest yourself. This is the place for you to empty your mind, because a mind that is too jam-packed with everyday trivialities cannot enjoy a refreshing rest. Although this is not a real meditation room, with neither flying birds nor running water, we are here certainly very far away from the hustle and bustle of stressful life, we do provide healthy food for thought, and we do provide access to abundant images of beauty.

Let your thoughts flee; read a poem; enjoy a painting; look at beautiful photographs. Treat yourself like bathing in an invigorating open-air onsen, with a view of soothing scenery!
